Doubles No Trouble for Bluecoats

This month, for the first time in Bluecoats history, the Squash players took part in a doubles fixture against another club.

The match took place at The Royal Automobile Club’s Woodcote Park Country Club.

Doubles has been played by Bluecoats team players for a few years now and it has become a regular fixture on a Saturday morning and during club night.

So when the invitation to play a fixture against RAC, it was impossible to turn down. Not just to experience such a famous club and its stunning grounds, but to have a go on a traditional doubles court (4ft wider than a regular singles court).

Graham and Matt kicked the fixture off first and, once they had adapted to the new dimensions, were able to win.

Team Bash, Tony and Dave Hutchins, had the closest match of the night as our first string pair. Never before has a ball been abused quite as that one was, however they were unable to came away with a win.

Myself, stepping in for a Football bound Will, and Dave Stanley chopped our way to victory and set up a grandstand finish.

A returning Ross and semi-crocked Marcus had a fantastic match to bring the evenings Squash to an end. Eventually they came away with a win securing Bluecoats with a 3-1 victory.

So much fun was had by all, and we are so grateful for the experience given to us by everyone at RAC. We will be organising a return fixture in the near future.

All our teams find themselves in strong positions as October comes to an end. The result of the month has to go to the 3rd team who went through a fixture against local rivals Horsham without dropping a game.
