End of Season Reason for Treason

1st Team

“With our strongest team to date, the season looked promising for the Bluecoats 1st Team competing in Division 2 of the Sussex Squash Leagues. This optimism proved justified when we ended the season in 3rd place with 216 points, only 8 points behind the eventual winners, West Worthing, having achieved some excellent results against some of the counties strongest clubs”

Tony Fiveash

Young Will Johnson deserves a special mention having completed the campaign unbeaten. 10 wins out of 10 is a very impressive record, one which we hope can carry on into next season.

2nd Team

“Season 2014-2015 turned out to be a lot harder than we thought! Having started the first half of the season badly, and at one point sitting bottom for a short while, things were looking bleak!”

“Cometh the hour, cometh the man!! Captain Pete slipped on his superman pants and tights (the tights were just for Mike Evans) and finally got his team to start thinking who they were playing for? What was at stake? And the thought of finishing below team 3 was incomprehensible!”

“The second half of the season became more controlled, tactically brilliant by the captain to pull away from the relegation end of the table to regroup and prepare to fight another day!”

“What a Man? What a Captain? I can only assume my curry will be free?”

Pete Dawson

3rd Team

Finishing bottom of Division 3 means the 3rd Team will be relegated. We are yet to receive a season review from Captain Piers Chadwick; perhaps the end of season curry next week will be the time to provide counselling for our fallen comrades.

4th Team

“The 4th team have shown a significant improvement over last season when we finished bottom of division 5 East, winning only 1 match and losing 15 for 92 points. This season we played in a higher league, Division 4 West, and finished 8th from the top having won 6 and lost 12 of our matches and amassed a mightily impressive 151 points.”

“Our expectations for next season are justifiably high!”

Jon Tucker

Tim Canham remained without a win for the season.

“I would like to thank all the players who have turned out to play for all the Bluecoats teams this season especially team captains Pete Dawson, Piers Chadwick and Jon Tucker, without their time and effort there would be no teams. We are left looking forward to the end of season team meal, however it remains a puzzle to the captains how when you are trying put a team together for a Friday night match only a few are available but when you suggest a team curry on a Friday night 20 players are suddenly free!!”

Tony Fiveash

Afore mentioned end of season curry will provide opportunity to discuss the season’s highs, lows and really lows. Notes will be taken and published in due course.
