Top 5 classes and sessions to try in 2026
One of the easiest ways to stay motivated throughout the year is to mix things up. Mixing up your routine keeps things fresh, challenges your body in new ways, and helps you discover activities you genuinely enjoy.
If you’re looking for a friendly place to start, our social sessions and group fitness classes are a great option. These classes are designed to be welcoming, inclusive, and fun.
1. Social Pickleball
Pickleball continues to grow in popularity, and for good reason. It’s easy to pick up, low impact, and a great way to meet people. Our social sessions are ideal if you want to improve coordination and boost fitness without the pressure of competitive play.
If you’d like to learn how to play pickleball as a beginner, we’re running a 6-week course starting on the 4th February 2026. Please call us or ask at Reception for more information.
2. Body Blast

How to build towards big fitness events
At Bluecoat Sports, events like the Swimathon and the Yard Games are designed to be inclusive and rewarding, no matter your starting point. The key is building up gradually and enjoying the journey along the way.
Getting ready for the Swimathon
The Swimathon is as much about consistency as it is about distance. You don’t need to be a competitive swimmer – regular pool time and a steady approach can make a huge difference.
To prepare:
- Start with manageable distances and aim to swim little and often, rather than pushing too hard in one session
- Build endurance gradually, adding a few extra lengths each week
- Mix technique and stamina, focusing on relaxed, efficient swimming
- Use other classes to support your training, such as Body Blast or Step, to improve cardiovascular fitness and strength
Most importantly, set a goal that feels achievable and meaningful to you.
Preparing for the Yard Games

The Yard Games are all about energy, teamwork, challenging yourself, and having fun, and preparation can help you feel confident and ready on the day.
Great ways to build up include:
- Group fitness classes in our outdoor gym to improve stamina, coordination, and agility
- Social sports sessions to boost movement, reaction time, and teamwork
- Consistency over intensity – regular weekly activity will help you feel stronger and more capable
Think of your Yard Games training as an opportunity to build momentum, rather than a strict programme. Every class you attend and every session you enjoy helps build confidence and resilience.

Train with purpose, enjoy the process
Whether you’re aiming for the Swimathon, the Yard Games, or another event or personal goal, training for something can transform how you feel about exercise. Break your goal into small steps, celebrate progress along the way, and don’t be afraid to ask our team for advice on classes or routines that might support you.
By the time event day arrives, you’ll not only feel physically prepared, but you’ll also have the satisfaction of knowing you committed to yourself and achieved.
Make 2026 your year
However you choose to use your membership, whether it’s discovering new classes, training for an event, or simply enjoying movement and exercise each week, 2026 is your opportunity to build habits that last.
