Bluecoat Nursery is an independent inclusive pre-school set in the beautiful grounds of Christ’s Hospital School which is open to all children within Christ’s Hospital, Horsham, Southwater and the surrounding areas and run by qualified and experienced staff.
We have an extensive range of resources indoors – climbing frame, sand and waterplay, messy play area, role play corner, quiet book corner, computer, construction area and kitchen where we cook with the children and have daily snack. We also have our own fenced, fully
equipped garden with vegetable patch. The Nursery also have access to the grounds of Christ’s Hospital School which includes tennis courts, the pond, library as well as weekly PE sessions at Bluecoat Sports Health & Fitness Club. Does your nursery hold any special annual events? ie, sports day, Chinese New Year, join in charity events like Comic Relief? Each year we hold fund raising events to support the Nursery and one or two
charities such as Barnados and Comic Relief. We hold a Sports Day on the last day of the summer term, an annual outing to a farm for all the children and a trip to a show for the children leaving Nursery. We often take the children on other visits such as Warnham Nature Reserve,
Southwater country park, into Horsham or to a local farm shop. We celebrate various multicultural events throughout the year.
Is there a particular staff member who could be named and could provide quotes about what it’s like there. ie, nursery owner, manager, or assistant who can give comments about the children, nursery environment, anything else you’d like to highlight. All the staff are qualified, and experienced and have been with the Nursery for a number of years. We work closely with each other and together form a strong team of excellence. Through the activities on offer our children develop potential at their own pace and become independent and confident, forming good friendships which last through their schooldays and beyond.
Susie Bennett, Supervisor says “Having worked here for 24 years it is still a pleasure to be part of Bluecoat Nursery.I often meet
children who have left the Nursery and grown up and they still have fond memories of their time here.”
Our partnerships with parents are extremely important to us and in our last Ofsted report we received outstanding in the
effectiveness of the setting and engagement with parents and carers. We hold two parents evening a year, parents are always welcome to have an informal chat if they have any concerns about their child and we welcome their involvement and input.
Do you have any special events or changes coming up that you’d like to mention. ie, expansion / refurb plans, open days, fundraising days etc.
Next week we are taking our group of leavers to see Ben & Holly at the Capitol Theatre and we will be having a visit to Holmbush Farm next month.
We admit children from the age of 2 ¾ years, are open every weekday morning and run a lunch club from Monday to Thursday.
The Nursery offers the government’s Free Entitlement for Children in the term after they turn three.
