At Bluecoat Sports we have excellent badminton facilities available to book seven days a week for members and their guests. We also host a range of sessions to hone your skills and cater to both individuals and groups.
Ideal for players of all ages and abilities, we also hire badminton equipment for you to rent if you don’t own your own racquet or shuttlecocks.

Whether you play badminton for fun or you’re a pro at the sport, you can play throughout the week at Bluecoat Sports.* You can hire one of our courts for you and your guests for either:
- 30 minutes
- 45 minutes
- or 60 minutes.

You can also come to one of our badminton evenings at the centre. They’re very popular with both members and non-members, and whether you come on your own or with a friend, you’ll be given a warm welcome.
People of all abilities are invited, and we bear in mind different skill levels when putting people together. Our more experienced players are always happy to help beginners too.
What’s fantastic about badminton is how sociable it is – it’s often played in pairs, giving our players plenty of time to chat and meet new people. We’ve seen lifelong friendships forming at our badminton evenings.

It’s easy to get started
It’s easy for beginners and both the racquets and shuttlecocks are lightweight, making it a fantastic sport for those wanting to exercise but perhaps building up their fitness or recovering from an injury.
It the right amount of challenging to master
That’s not to say it’s always easy! You’ll need precision, mixed with plenty of stamina and agility to play as the game can be fast-paced, but for those just starting out you’ll see your fitness levels quickly improve the more you play.
It’s a good workout
Badminton can reduce or eliminate your risk for many health problems, such as high blood pressure, diabetes and obesity. Badminton can help with weight loss and weight control because of its fat-burning and metabolism boosting qualities.
It will not only help your cardiovascular fitness, but also improve your hand/eye coordination, endurance, flexibility, muscle tone and strength.
It’s suited to all ages and abilities and it’s a sport that can be played by the whole family or a group of friends at the same time, promoting mental wellbeing through socialising and bonding with your teammates.
As well as the health benefits, badminton is fun! Lots of people say exercise is far more appealing when both a fun and social element is added to it. Badminton is a great team sport, and not only will you bond with others but also learn techniques from one another while you play.
Our racquet sports facilities
We have dozens of courts for badminton, squash and tennis. Racquet sports are a fantastic way to exercise, working every part of your body and helping you build your stamina as well as strength and muscles as you move around the court. They also give your brain a workout as you need a strong strategy to beat your opponent. That’s why Bluecoat Sports has dedicated so much space to racquet sports.
The courts are available Monday to Friday 6:30am-10:00 pm and 7am to 8pm on Saturday and 7am to 9pm on Sunday. Our timetable is regularly updated. You can take a look at it here.
Not a regular racquet sports player and don’t have the equipment? Don’t worry, at our centre you can hire any equipment you may need to enjoy all our facilities. Just ask at the reception when you come in for your court slot.
