Bluecoat Sports has the reputation of being one of the most professional and successful providers of swimming lessons in the area.
Lessons for school-age children (4½ years plus) take place after school during the week and on Saturday mornings, catering for complete beginners to the more advanced. These structured lessons are taught by our professionally trained Swim School Instructors.
1:1 lessons are available for children or adults who feel that they need that individual attention.
Parent and baby drop-in sessions are supervised by our friendly instructors and will help mum (or dad) and child gain confidence in the water in a fun safe environment with the use of toys and games. These are drop in classes which can be attended as a member or a guest by speaking to reception.
Waterbabe classes cater for the younger child (pre-school) and are suitable for children aged 2 upwards. Classes run on Wednesday mornings and on Fridays after lunch. The sessions are for 20 minutes and the parent or guardian accompanies the child in the water.
Children interested in lifesaving would enjoy our Rookie Programme which consists of half an hour dry side and half an hour wet side covering rescues, water safety, casualty management and first aid. Must be 8+ years and be able to swim in deep water.
During the school holidays, Bluecoats offer week long intensive swimming courses for those wishing to brush up on their technique, learn a new skill or just try something completely different. Courses run for half an hour for 5 days and improvements can be dramatic.

We run beginner and improver lessons during Tuesday evenings and Friday afternoons throughout the year in 10 week blocks. Whether you are a complete beginner or someone who is looking to improve their stroke we have a class for you.
Why not join the Bluecoat Swim School Adult Coaching Sessions on a Tuesday evening, suitable for swimmers who want to improve fitness through a structured, but fun, coaching session which includes distance swimming, sprints and technique. All swimmers must be able to do lengths and be proficient in at least two strokes (to include front crawl).
For those early risers, our Early Bird sessions are on Wednesday and Friday mornings from 06.30 – 07.30.
At Bluecoats we understand that some people may prefer quieter times to swim so that the bodies’ function can be maintained. To this end we run Swimming in Retirement sessions for those over 60’s which constitutes of a dedicated pool to our members who fit into this category.
We also timetable a senior’s swim session and an adult only lane swimming session so that members can guarantee that there are no children to get in the way or make your swim uncomfortable.
