Your questions answered
Are you Ofsted registered?
Bluecoats Kids Club is registered with Ofsted. We had an inspection in December 11 and we received excellent feedback. All other Children’s Activities which Bluecoats run fall under Ofsted's Voluntary Childcare Register, so all activities comply with Ofsted guidelines.
Who are your staff?
We have a great team of staff working for Kids Club at Bluecoats. Each member brings something different to the team which enhances the experience for the children. We stipulate that a Supervisor, qualified in Childcare to Level 3 is present at all times whilst the Kids Club is running. We also have at least one Assistant qualified in Childcare to Level 2 to supplement the Supervisor. Other members of staff that we have are qualified coaches, going through teacher training or at college. All members of staff hold an enhanced CRB check and are First Aid or Lifeguard Qualified.
What are the staff to child ratios?
We operate a ratio of 1:8 for children of 5-8 years and 1:10 for 8 years onwards. When we do outside activities we operate under the ratio of 1:5 for all ages.
Who can come to Kids Club?
At Bluecoats we like to follow a fully inclusive Kids Club, so we invite anyone to come and try out the club and see if they like it. The Kids Club is for 5 to 12 year olds.
We also run a Mini Kids Club for 3 to 5 years, which runs during the holidays for half days.
Street dance What activities are included?
Our sample day shows you the range of activities included in the standard programme. Other activities we offer are trampolining, outside games, parachute, quizzes, mini Olympics, music, drama, basketball, badminton, bench ball, classic games, disco and much more. There is swimming everyday.
We also offer intensive courses in some activities for children who would like further coaching in these activities.
What happens if it rains?
The Kids Club is set in the Grecians hut, which is a big room with sofas, chairs and tables. It is a great place for the children to socialise and play independently when we have breaks and signing in/out. Most of the other activities are based in the Sports Centre, so rain doesn’t affect what we have planned for the day. We always have an activity booked at the Sports Centre, so if it is sunny and we prefer to change the plan we can go outside. We advise that parents supply their child with plenty of drinks, sun cream and hats just in case the weather is hot. When you come to Kids Club we have some forms to fill out, which grant your children permission to do each activity.
What times are you open?
The general day is from 09:00 – 17:00, however you can pay an extra £5.00 to extend your day from 08:00 – 18:00.
We also offer half days from 09:00 – 13:00 and 13:00 – 17:00
